Indigo Fury - Auntie Annies, Belfast

With Auntie Annies open for business yet another night, it was time for another three bands to take to the stage for just three pounds of your well-earned (I hope) money. Was it a gig worth forking out for? You better believe it. With a line-up that included The Glory Holes, Belfast guys (and girl), Six Seconds in Dallas, a shoegaze alternative (and imaginative) four-piece and Indigo Fury, the band included to the set to add more 'grrr' on the night.

First up were The Glory Holes with their bluesy-rock and, fronted by female vocalist Melissa, powerful vocals that showed everyone they were up for a good night. Starting off with 'Izzy Whizzy', which attracted an array of claps and cheers, followed by a song, dedicated to an eager crowd member, called 'Cigarette Smoke' proved that their ballads, filled with funky basslines and tasty guitar riffs (and energetic solos), have a place in the local music scene. One of their songs 'Mirror' was pure gutsy rock and, while the band lacked the onstage performance, all eyes were set on the frontwoman who guided the crowd beautifully through a very good set. I should also make a mention to their rather great cover version of Queens of the Stone Age's 'Go With The Flow', I enjoyed it greatly. They're certainly worth a listen to!

Taking to the stage were the gig organisers, Six Seconds in Dallas and they arrived on stage with one member, Jack (guitarist and backing vocals), sporting a nice silver cape on stage. Why? You tell me but it sure added something eventful to the night. Despite frontman Chris looking slightly nervous, or tipsy, on stage, Six Seconds to Dallas soon got into their swing and started kicking things into gear. Fizzling guitar riffs coupled with drifting basslines echo the statement why Six Seconds in Dallas are an original act within the scene and prove that they can make a name for themselves. And sure, if that wasn't enough for everyone, commitment made up for what was lost when drummer Mike broke his drumstick, which he threw part of it into the crowd, and played through the rest of the set with the remaining piece. They also tried, but failed, to get the crowd singing along to their version of Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean' at the end! Worth a shot, boys! Wasn't expecting it at all!

Finishing off the night, headlining was Indigo Fury. Fronted by Sparks Fly frontman Rory, Indigo Fury provided some fresh clean rock for the rapidly diminishing crowd, which was disappointing but some people gotta get up for work in the morning, and although heads were missing, appreciation was not lost and from the people left there, they got the deserved claps and cheers. I've always said Rory's a great frontman and his vocals were the pure driving force behind Indigo Fury's music and if you haven't heard them before, they are worth checking out! With more information, and videos, to hit their MySpace in the near future, it's worth keeping an eye of things within the Indigo Fury camp. With free downloads on the Last.fm page (10 to be precise), you'd be a fool not to go over and get some!
