GiggingNI.com talks toBlack Stone Cherry

Gigging Northern Ireland had the fantastic opportunity to have a chat with the Kentucky-bunch Black Stone Cherry, who are set to rock the country's captial this October. Talking about their tour plans, coming to Belfast and back to Northern Ireland, their new album and much more, we get an insight into the band who always rock everytime they play!

We are delighted to hear that you're coming over to Belfast. What made you decide to come to Belfast, Northern Ireland?

We first played Belfast while on tour with Def Leppard and Whitesnake and it was one of the loudest crowds on the whole tour! So, we really wanted to come back and do our own show.

I understand The Answer were supporting you on part of your tour. Did you get talking to them about the country?

We've actually got a band called The Parlor Mob supporting us on this date. Great guys, great band! The Answer are also a fantastic group as well!

Did The Answer give you enough confidence about our country that you could let another Northern Irish band support at your gig in Belfast?

Yeah, but the fans in Ireland spoke pretty loudly! They rock!!

Obviously you've toured with some great bands in Whitesnake, Def Leppard and Nickelback - did the response from all the support tours convince you to do a headline tour here in the UK ?

Oddly enough, we did our first tour of the UK with a band called Hinder. Our music went over so well that we decided to come back soon after playing the Hyde Park show in London that summer of 2007. So, in a way, our first "big" splash on the UK was that festival and our first headline tour there in 2007.

What was it like to play at the Wembley Arena? I hear it's been one of your lifelong ambitions.

We still have to remind ourselves that we played that room and met Jimmy Page the same night! Hell yeah!

Was there a turning point in your career where you thought to yourselves, 'Okay, we no longer have to kiss peoples' asses to get places'?

Ha! Not really. This whole business is kissing ass. But there is a limit. You always have to stand up for yourself and for what you believe in.

You released 'Folklore and Superstition', in 2008. Is there plans for a new album soon?

It's actually our 2nd major release. We've been pushing it and it's done really well for us so far. We'll probably start work on a 3rd record sometime next year.

Is there anything you want to tell your fans in Belfast ahead of your show on the October 11th 2009?

Only that we're bringing one hell of a good time with us - it's gonna be loud, nasty, badass rock n roll! We can't wait to see everyone!
